About the program

Sustainability Rebates supports properties in Canterbury-Bankstown to implement energy and water saving initiatives. As part of this program, properties in Canterbury-Bankstown can receive up to $500 in rebates for purchasing rooftop solar.


Application Process

1. Check the Eligibility Criteria

Review the Eligibility Criteria for the solar rebate. In addition, to receive a sustainability rebate, your solar PV must have been installed within the last 3 months of applying for the rebate. For example, If you apply for the rebate 01 July 2024, the solar PV must have been installed no earlier than 01 April 2024. Retrospective rebate applications beyond 3 months from the date of application are not available. 

 

2. Purchase your Sustainable Product

Purchase your solar PV system from your chosen provider or installer. Ensure that your purchase meets the Eligibility Criteria for your chosen rebate item. Check out Clean Energy Council accredited retailers here.

 

3. Submit an Application Form

There are no pre approvals for the rebate required from Council. Once you have purchased the solar PV and it has been installed, you can submit an Application Form and attach: 

  1. A Rates Notice from Canterbury Bankstown Council as proof of address
  2. A recent electricity bill
  3. A copy of the STC form (small scale technology certificates), provided by your solar PV provider.
  4. A copy of the invoice from your solar PV provider.
  5. Photos of the installed solar panels and inverter

4. Receive your Sustainability Rebate

If your form is approved by Council, you will receive your Sustainability Rebate via electronic bank transfer from Rebately. Be sure to check your junk mailbox for your rebate approval email.
