About the program
Councils across Australia use Rebately to make it easy for households to claim cash rebates for green behaviours.
Traditionally, rebate programs are a massive time sink to manage and harder to engage with for residents than they should be. We remove the workload for councils (by around 90%!), allowing you to engage many more households to trial more sustainable behaviours, at a much lower program management cost and far higher service delivery outcome.
Our custom-built approval engine handles all resident communications and detects fraud that would otherwise result in substantial budget wastage. We pay residents on your behalf, saving your accounts team from making many small payments, simplifying your accounting to one statement and invoice per month.
You can rebate any product or service, so long as it is environmentally or socially positive – from cloth baby nappies to solar panels, from water-saving devices to re-usable coffee cups, community gardening equipment, and more.
"It's a dream to use!" – Bernadette Riad, City of Parramatta
Founded with support from the Sutherland Shire Council and the City of Parramatta – and evolved with Design Partner Randwick City Council – Rebately is the latest social venture from the people behind the Compost Revolution, and has been partially funded by the NSW Environment Protection Authority, Waste Less, Recycle More waste levy.

* Based on around $60,000 minimum budget with 250 rebate claims. Larger volume rebate programs save even more. Low volume, high rebate dollar value programs save a little less, depending on workload involved in approving claims. And that’s before we factor in fraud detection and significant setup savings for new programs.
