Select the rebate you wish to apply for.

2. Check the eligibility criteria

Review the eligibility criteria and terms and conditions in the guidelines for your installed sustainable product. To be eligible to receive a rebate your sustainable product must be installed from the 1 July 2026 until 30 June 2027.

3. Submit an application

Complete your application including all documents/images requested. This will assist Council to verify your eligibility to receive a rebate.

4. Application review

Rebates are subject to the approval process and availability. If your application is approved by Council you will receive your sustainability rebate via electronic bank transfer. This may take up to 30 days. Add [email protected] to your email contacts to ensure you receive your claim status updates. 

General

• Rebates are limited and subject to funding availability. Submission of an application does not guarantee approval or payment.

• Council reserves the right to amend the Sustainability Rebates Program at any time, including program budget, eligibility criteria, rebate amounts and application timeframes.

• Applications must be completed via this [the Rebately] platform and include all required information and mandatory supporting documentation. Incomplete applications may not be assessed.

• Each eligible property is limited to a maximum of two rebates under the 2026/27 program, subject to availability.

Sustainability Rebate Payment

• If an application is approved, payment will be made via electronic bank transfer to the applicant’s nominated bank account within 30 days of final approval.

• Rebates will be assessed and prioritised in order of application submission date.

• Approval and payment of rebates are not guaranteed and are subject to eligibility, assessment outcomes and available funding. Payment is only confirmed once final approval has been granted.

• The sustainability rebate amount will not exceed 50% of the out-of-pocket cost paid by the applicant for the eligible product after all other incentives (as shown on the invoice).

• Under no circumstances will the rebate exceed the invoiced amount or result in a net financial gain to the applicant. Where the calculated rebate is greater than 50% of the invoiced cost, the rebate will be reduced to match 50% of the amount paid by the applicant for the sustainable product (as shown on the invoice).

Disclaimer

• The applicant acknowledges and agrees that Council accepts no liability in respect of any claim, cause of action or loss or damage arising out of, or in relation to, any sustainable product procured under the Sustainability Rebates Program, or the consumption or use of any electricity that is the subject of the sustainable product.

• Council accepts no liability for any disputes between tenants and property owners that may arise where a rebate has been paid.

• Any faults, defects, installation or performance issues which occur due to the purchasing of any sustainable product must be resolved between the applicant and the sustainable product provider based on the advertised warranties and standard service provisions of the sustainable products involved.

• All sustainable products must be provided and/or installed by licensed professionals.

Data and Reporting

• Council engages a third-party service provider, Rebately Pty Ltd, to administer the Sustainability Rebates Program. Applicant information will only be shared with Rebately for the purposes of application processing, assessment and rebate administration. 

• By applying, applicants consent to Council collecting, using and storing their personal information to assess eligibility and administer the program. All information is managed in accordance with the Government Information (Public Access) Act 2009, the Privacy and Personal Information Protection Act 1998, and relevant regulations. Applicants may request access to or correction of their personal information by contacting Council or referring to Council’s Privacy Management Plan. • Applicants agree to be contacted by Council during and after the application process for the purposes of program evaluation, reporting and feedback. 

• Council may develop case studies to showcase program outcomes. No personal or property-specific information will be published without the applicant’s prior consent, and applicant details will not be publicly disclosed. 

On-Site Verification

• By participating in the Sustainability Rebates Program the applicant permits Council staff to visit the applicant property for the purpose of on-site verification if required. 

• During an on-site verification, a Council officer will enter an applicant property to verify that a sustainable product has been installed in accordance with its relevant eligibility criteria. 

• A suitable time for an on-site verification will be arranged with applicants before the visit. All applicants of the Sustainability Rebates Program must agree to give permission for Council staff to enter the applicant property for the purpose of an on-site verification if required. 

Small Environmental Projects Fund Budget

• Council’s Small Environmental Projects Fund (SEPF), established in 2000/01, provides financial assistance to eligible community groups, businesses and organisations within the Shellharbour LGA. Eligibility is determined by the specific program guidelines in place at the time, and previous eligibility does not guarantee eligibility in future programs. 

• Round 3 of the Sustainability Rebates Program is funded through the SEPF, with an allocated budget of approximately $20,010 (excl. GST) for the 2026/27 financial year. 

• The available budget may be varied at Council’s discretion, subject to approval.

Council Staff Applications 

Dispute Resolution

• Council, applicants and sustainable product providers will make reasonable efforts to resolve any dispute or claim arising from the Sustainability Rebates Program through good faith negotiation in the first instance.  

Disposal of Old Products

• Old products, such as used hot water systems, must be disposed of responsibly by either the installer or the applicant, in accordance with applicable waste and recycling requirements.
